I'm looking for bits of cowboy wisdom, sayings, quotes and horse proverbs etc and ran across some interesting ones....Do you have any to add?

If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen are defrocked, shouldn't it follow that cowboys would be deranged?
If you're ridin' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there with ya.
Always drink upstream from the herd.
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear, or a fool from any direction
Sometimes you get and sometimes you get got.
Never miss a good chance to shut up
Scars are Cowboy Tattoos with better stories.
If your horse doesn't want to go there, neither should you
No matter where you go. There you are.
There's two theories to arguing with a woman. Neither one works.
Never drop your gun to hug a grizzly.
Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on
Don't worry about biting off more than you can chew. Your mouth is probably a whole lot bigger than you think.
Making it in life is kind of like busting broncos. You're going to get thrown a lot. The simple secret is to keep getting back on.
The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horses ears.(Arabian proverb)
Tell a gelding, ask a stallion, discuss it with a mare
No hour is lost spent in the saddle.
Nothing is better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse.
There's nothin in life thats worth doin, it it can't be done from a horse.
My treasures do not clink together or glitter. They gleam in the sun and neigh at night.
To ride a horse is to ride the sky.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming. "WOW WHAT A RIDE"

Wear button fly Levis if you are gonna sneak up on a ewe. Zippers make too much noise and spook the sheep!

Yeah if you want real sayings then your talking about the wrong people. You want fake movie sayings. You can get them from any dude rag they sell at the magazine stand. Heck just watch the new monte walsh there is more stupid movie cowboy sayings in that thing to last a lifetime.

Go buy don't squat with your spurs on and never ask a man the size of his spread. Both wonderfully commercialized, and romanticize a life of hard work, disicpline and broken hearts and bones.
