Does anyone know of a saddle shop in Hulett Wyo called the "Stockman"? Their gear sported the "Devil's Tower" brand. I don't see them online and they have not advertised in WH for years. Did they close up shop? They had a pretty good catalog with lots of old timey gear.

I remember them, had a catalog or two from them...least I think it was the same Stockman in Wyoming. It's been a long time, I'm talking late 70's early 80's. I tried tracking them down some years back and was told they were out of business...if you hear different let me know.

Found these interesting articles while searching for Miller Stockmans Catalog......
Steve: My grandfather became friends with Phil Miller who was struggling to run one of the earliest wholesale Western companies. Phil asked Jack A. to join him in 1932 as a partner. They built the company into a catalog operation which operated under various names including Stockman Farmer Supply and Miller Stockman (snip)

For the interim, Corral West hired Williston, ND-based Advantage Line Telemarketing Inc. to manage inbound calls for the Miller Stockman catalog operations it acquired from Miller International in June 1999. Advantage Line answered catalog calls during off-hours on weekends and nighttime for the former owner.

Good info MB, but wrong Stockman I think. The one I was asking about was a lone saddle shop in the 1980's near the Devils Tower in Wyoming. They had lots of old style saddles in their catalog, one was a nice rig with huge square skirts on a Weatherly tree, looked like an old RT Frazier rig with a stright up shovel cantle. Don't know if their saddles were any good or not, but the black & white catalog was pretty cool. But interesting that you sent the Rockabilly Hall of Fame website, I've visited this site on & off for awhile now, I have lots of rockabilly music in my collection. Great shirts on the link you sent.

yep, mis-assumption on my part, lol. I grew up in CO, and the name Stockman was almost always synonamous(sp) with Miller.
There is a saddle shop around Hulett, though I cannot recall the name of it, outside of that it starts with the letter "D"...maybe DJ's....som'n like that.

HI, I can't help you much with how to see if The Stockman is still in Busness, but I do have a Stockman saddle for sale that my dad had made for himself. It is a slick fork, 16inch, roping saddle. It is in excellent condition and is extreamly comfortable to ride. I am selling it because it is way to big for me and it is just sitting around collecting dust. If you know anyone who might be interested, please let me know. Thanks!!!
