Hey everyone How's it going
I just have a question here: What do you all consider to be "halter broke"? I've been working with my colt and I can tie him, lead him, groom him all over, pick up all 4 feet (most of the time). I haven't tried loading him yet but hope to purty soon here. What else is there that you would suggest? Thanks for your help.

If I can lead one with no resistance, tie him and safely leave him, if he'll back when asked, I'd consider him halter broke.
IMO, loading and unloading and giving his feet are not part of halter 'breaking' but are skills on thier own.

P. S. If he's halter broke you can start de-spooking him. Stick to easy stuff that young but by the time he's undersaddle he should be exposed to anything in the pasture or barn that he might come across.
Sounds like he has a great start. If he was mine I would turn him out a let him learn how to be a horse for the next few years.
Not trying to be snarky here, I just feel that the best horses are the ones that learned how to handle themselves in herd envirnonments. Horses are better at teaching the horse things, what we do is all people things that probably aren't high on the priority list of the horses.
