I ran across this article on line and was curious if this practice is still being used. I've often thought about trimming the portion of the mane that lies under the saddle. Are you folks familiar with this?

I have heard of this but I have never seen it on a horse. It makes total sense to me. I am sure there are still traditional outfits that use this system.

I've been using them all my life. You had better know what they are if you work on the big outfits, especially in the N.W.

we use them here. there is even a little set of clippers in the tack room for all of us to use.

Liam, I'm sorry I don't remember : where is "here?" I know you've ridden for several different outfits during your career, but I've lost track of where you are now.

I too have seen allusions to cavvy marks, even heard them discussed amongst some of the "old timers" around where I ride, but I don't know whether they see much use in Canada anymore. Not saying they're not used; I just don't know . . . biggrin.gif
