Finally had to give up. Sold two (3year old mares and thier foals) for $700.00. Traded a 4yr old gelding and 2 yearlings for a stock trailer. That has us down to a managable five horses. This must be my year for near death experience, first drowning my Jeep and then yesturday, the guy that bought the gelding and yearlings, sent 3 yeah hoos out here to get them. Took and hour and a half to load the gelding and filly. Then we went to the bottom land to load the yearling stud colt. I led his mother toward the trailer with him in tow and some idiot decided to rattle a chain on the gate as we are passing through. I had told them of this mares history ( she got tangled in a gate with a woman and the mares gaskin was cut near to the bone and the woman's leg was broke in 3 places), but would the know it all horseman listen, of course not. The mare went into panic mode, knocked me off balance, I ended up under her, she jumped over me, calmed down and came back to see if I was ok. That was it for the yeah hoos, she's now branded a killer horse! Today the guy that is actually buying the stud colt came out and set up a small pen so we can isolate him from the herd and go about this more slowly.
Monday, we loaded the two 3yr old mares and foals in 15 minutes, no problem. Thier buyers were patient. Its all in the attitude.
Hoping tomorrow brings good luck loading the colt.
Lots of tears and broken hearts here in Kentucky.
