There used to be Western Music and Country Music.
Then it was Country Western Music.
Now it's mainly Light Rock called Country.
It's hard to find peoiple who actually sing Western songs.
Red Steagall does Western but is no where on the dial.
Marty Robbins is long gone.
I don't hardly care for Light Rock.
I sure don't like Country with either beer drinking, share cropping or Hillbilly themes.

I guess that's why I'm listening to Talk Radio now days.

Contact Ranchroper and get a copy of his CD, "100 Years Too Late". Now that is soem good western type music.

Hey Ranchroper, any updates as to when the new CD is going to be released? I am thinking they could make wonderful Chrostmas presents.

I'd like to know how to order the CD too. There is no western music available here; Amarillo by Morning is the closest thing to a western song I've heard in years. I remember early TV westerns with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans singing, and they always had other western singers on.

Your right about country being light rock. One of the young nurses was showing us how you can watch music videos on an I-phone. They asked what I wanted to hear and I said John Denver; they looked at me like I came from another planet. They liked him when they listened to the music, but you can't dance too it was the big comment. I know John Denver was Folk-Country, Light-Rock, but you could imagine the beautiful country he wrote about in his early career.

You got that right!
I'm pretty sure he told me he's working on it now and it would hopefully be released in the spring of 2009, but who knows, maybe we can get advance copies? Ranchroper?

One of my favorite Western groups is the Sons of Tennessee. It's a father and two sons who sing. The father used to sing Country, realized where it was headed and decided to start singing old Western songs with his boys. They're very good!
