Hi all,

I thought you might enjoy this video http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=vrYOQ52U3LQ.
The western rider is German, the dressage rider Austrian, the event was in Austria.
Enjoy.

Very cool video. I think the western rider does a better spin but the dressage rider does a more flashy sidepass. I like the part where they switch horses.

in all honesty, i think the western rider is a MUCH better rider....he was able to get on the dressage pony and ride quietly and effectively....whereas the dressage rider does not ride the lope well and is often behind the motion.

Regardless . . . they both rode well and that is an amazing video . . . I've always said that there is a lot of dressage in western riding. Loved it. Thanks for sharing!

Just goes to show that there really isn't much difference when it comes down to it. Good horsemanship is good horsemanship.

Just my pet peeve and I see it showing up in reiners a lot lately. Since when is it acceptable to ride a shank bit two handed? It bugs me to see that.

If you like that, then you should see some of our local cutting horse "trainers" jerking on mouths around here. Lots of them use great big long shanked bits that look like they could be used to anchor a crab boat, or as a four way lug wrench, only they also use martingales with them.
