Hello everyone! I am in the possession of an antique saddle. I am wondering if anyone has any sites or people to contact about where to list something like this. I'd prefer not to go the ebay route. I have had a couple of people take a look at it and they have told me the value. They're mostly old cowboys that are not internet savvy to know where to list it! Someone informed me to try Western Horseman. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you get an appraisal or just someone to tell you it was worth something? If the saddle is really worth anything and you want to sell it you need a Dealer in Antique Tack to look it over.
Insurance value, suggested retail and auction value are different things too. Ask.

I live in NY and there's really no people I could take it to for them to actually look it over. I had one friend who is well versed in buckaroo tack look it over and he told me how much it was worth. I have two friends that are well-known saddle makers look at detailed pictures (which I took per their instructions) look at it. They told me how much it was worth. It's a 1940s Fred Mueller in pristine condition. The previous owner had taken it to a saddle museum and had it appraised there. I just have no use for this saddle. I was just wondering where I could advertise it.

look up antique tack auctions. include the words cowboy collectables or western memorabellia. you see these auctions advertized now and then all over the place. and they specialize in selling tack like your mueller.

Send the pictures to Western Horseman. They started a column in the magazine a few monthes ago called, What Its Worth. There is a collector that is well versed in old tack and he will give an honest appraisal. It is worth a shot as far as I am concerned. There is also a large saddle collector/museum in Missouri that knows the real values of saddles like yours. The name of the place escapes me, but I have sent them pictures in the past and they were pretty honest.

I have one too. It is a Stelzig (sp) Saddle made in Houston back in the 60's. Not as old as it could be, but other than the fleece, it is in mint condition! I have been wondering the same!
