i took a survay the other day and they ask all kinds of questions about the over supply of horses. One of the quetions had to do with the horse slaughter and how to handle the problem of to many unwanted horses. I would like to know if anyone thinks that if we had a stricked control of the horses that went to the kill pens and a more humane way to deliver the kill. would the people that are aginst it be more willing to go along with slaughter. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT HORSE THAT SOME ASS JUST DOSE NOT WANT ANYMORE. THESE ARE HORSES THAT ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO FEND FOR THEM SELF OR ARE UNABLE TO DO A DAYS JOB. I for one have a old mare that is usless to anyone but this is my decsion to keep her untill she lets me know she no longer willing to live. But i won't take her to a action. because of the way they treat these kind of horses at the end by sending them to mexico or else where. Since this is such a problem but the horse meat is such a wounderful meat over sea then i would think it would be worth the money for these slaughter houses to pay more to get the meat over there. other words by having inspectors or humanue people checking to make sure that heathy and horses wanted by people that can take care of them do not get staved and sent to the kill pens. people can sure the hell tell when a horse has been abused. OR is no longer of any use because of age or sickness. You watch Houston animal cops and you see horses that have to be put down because there is no hope of them ever recovering or leading a natrural life. these horses would make a good meat market but only by usa standered not by kill buryers or forgion countrys standers which they don't have one.
