Somewhere I read a rather interesting post/article on the dangers of using splint boots. I'd like to re-read it but can't remember where I saw it.
Am also interested in members thoughts on the use of splint boots, best brands, why or why not, etc.
I read a study a few years ago where they put the sports medicine boots on horses and then ran the horses on tread mills. They had monitors on the legs to check all kinds of things. The study showed that there was a huge increase in heat buildup in the lower legs and that translates into a greater risk of injury. The findings from that study showed that many times the full boots when left on for long periods can do more damage than they can prevent.
I am not sure about splint boots as this study only dealt with the full boots. Logic would say they wouldn't hold heat since they are not as big and bulky.

Thanks NW. You don't by any chance remember where that was do you? I think it was the same one I read too.
