OUCH!!!!!!!!!! Bundle up MB!
I fed this morning and it was 60 degrees, now 8 hrs later it is 19 and going down.
Just think, only 3 months and a few days before spring!
I am looking forward to 12/21 when we start to get more day light. One step at a time.
Stay warm!
Shoot, it isn't even winter yet, that doesn't come for another week or so. Love this fall weather!! Last night it started snowing. The winds came up and it was blowing about 30 mph with gusts over 50. Temps went from +15 to -10 in about two hours. Guessing th ewind chill is -40 or better. I don't get too excited over wind chill, that is only an equalivent number, not an actually measurement. Things don't freeze harder because of wind chill. This morning we had about 4-5 inches of new snow that was pretty much horizontal as it fell. Still blowing and drifting this afternoon, heck I can't even see the shelter belt that is 100 yards from the house. Supposed to break by 6AM tomorrow and highs for tomorrow and Tuesday are to be -15 to -10. I found out that there are things that need to be fixed on the Ritchie. Don't want to have to start thawing that thing out every day.
Other than that, all the horses were all standing eating happily at the bale feeders. Not a one was in a barn, they all have access to barns they can go in and out of at liberty. A couple of the youngsters were even running, bucking, and playing.
Just remember that when the days start getting longer, they also get colder. It is only about 76 days until calving season, 127 days until green grass, and 145 days until foaling season. Winter is temporary, life is good.

Hey Goldpony,
did you get the winds out where you are? We're at the back of Hatzic Valley, east of Mission and we've had 60 km/hr winds for three days straight with gusts over 90 km/hr. Power went out last evening and with no heat or water, made for a real cozy one. Mercury dropped to -12 last night plus the wind. We have trees down all over the place with one down on the power lines running up our driveway... branches are smoldering pretty good up there but the wind gusts keeping putting the flames out!

I beat you all again! -21 with a wind chill of -42. Broke down and blanketed one of my horses as she is old. It was -4 at 6 this am and it really actually feels warm. How I dream of even 25 above! And no, I don't live in Alaska.

That is scarey Darc! I hope they got your power lines fixed by now and no more fire danger?
Hope you have anice toasty warm fireplace t snuggle up by when the power is out.
Bayappaloosa...yep, you got us al beat, lol. It was neg 20 yesturday morning here, but our winds only brought it down to -33. I'd be guessing maybe your in MT or SD? I know it got a lot colder there then it did in WY. Alaska doesn't usually get the winds like we do.

It was 35 this morning and supposed to be in the low 70s tomorrow. We don't get the real cold weather but we do get wide swings of temperture. If we get at least a 40 degree drop in 6 hours it's a 'Blue Norther', at times the clouds do actually get a heavy blue color to'm. The other day the temp dropped about 50 degrees in less than 4 hours. No one here is ever ready for the Winter. Luckily we've had fog and mist for 48 hours. It's been so dry here the cows have been crapping pea gravel.
