Who here is having a bad time because of the current economy? Having trouble owning or keeping your pony(s)?

So far, things are good. I did just sell one mustang for $1200, plus 4 ton of hay...but he's not going anywhere as they are going to board him here still. With our tax return, I have this coming years hay already reserved and covered, as long as the prices don't skyrocket.
I have to admit I am a little worried though about job security, especially with the current state of the oil and gas...as of now, my hubby's work has 8 wells planned, but they might fall through, and if they do, he could get layed off, but more then likely just not get any hours until work picks up.
Don't know yet. I got taken on a semi load of hay last fall. Paid the guy to deliver and it never came. I cornered the guy and he sold it to someone else. Now I am trying to get the money back. Losing that load in an extreme shortage of hay in our area is making it tough. There is no hay to be had, the closest for sale is about 150 miles away. We had poor growing weather in our area and the hay was 50% less than normal.
The poor economy hasn't really hit ND yet. I am sure it will. Currently there are more jobs than people and there hasn't been too many layoffs. The only lay offs are in the manufacturing that produces products on a sub contracting basis. The ag economy will keep us going for the most part. Things will slow, but it won't ruin us like so many other areas of the country. So far the banks are all looking for people to take out new loans.

With us in Belgium, the crisis is starting to get worse. Luckely me and my boyfriend are pretty sure of our jobs. And we are even looking for a horse for him!
But all around us companies close down and people get fired. We are just waiting and see what the future will bring us.... but before I sell my horses, things must be very very bad.

The economy so far has not effected my job, there is actually a big shortage of nurses and no shortage of patients. I feel for you NW, we have plenty of hay this year; but last year we had a drought and had to give as high as $150.00 for a large square bale that lasted the 12 horses we had at the time 10 days. We down-sized to 5 horses, have no foals due this spring ( that will be sad, no babies). Our biggest problem is the tax-man; another year and we should have that resolved. Everyone hang tough!! Doing the same in Kentucky!
