Why doesn't this board have a Saddle Info site where people can find out about saddles as in who made it, where it was made, what it might be worth? I see, on this board and others, inquiries all the time just about saddles.

We could try to see if enough members had accurate saddle information to post. I would guess that someone might know "who made the saddle" and "where the saddle was made", but whether they knew the value? Personally, I do not have enough knowledge in this area to be helpful. Great idea, Mike!

Probably the most complete source for saddlemakers is a series of books titled "Old Cowboy Saddles and Spurs". I have the 7th edition. You can get it from Ruxton Trading Post in Manitou Springs, CO. The list of saddlemakers and their bios are about 110 pages or so of pretty small type. These people have done the homework. Value is like anything - condition, scarcity, and collectible value all play into it. It is tough to even put a range value on a lot of stuff without getting a hand on it.
