Starting June 20th (in Lethbridge AB) we are launching a PINK wagon train -- and you're invited to join it! It will travel anywhere from 9 to 30 miles a day, averaging 15 miles a day. We start in Lethbridge and don't quit 'til we get to Edmonton AB ... a distance of nearly 600 miles, but we don't expect you to come for the whole time! *grin*
This is an 1874 re-enactment of the trail taken by the North-West Mounted Police when they came to Alberta to stop the whiskey trade that was ruining the west ... but more importantly, it is a fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
We're hoping to have a number of wagons along with a bunch of horsemen.
You'll ride during the day with other horse lovers. In the evening we'll sit around a campfire and tell stories ... have dinner ... entertainment. At day's end you'll crawl into your tent and fall asleep listening to the coyotes sing. In the morning we'll make your breakfast and give you a bagged lunch for on the trail.
The ride is limited to 100 horses and riders (or drivers) at any given time. You can come for a day ... a weekend ... a week ... or the whole gosh darn length of this magnificent adventure! Come alone. Bring a friend. Bring the family. It will be a warm and welcoming group.
So you'll be having a lot of fun (riding and camping), and doing something great (raising money for breast cancer research) at the same time!
