Hello all... Can someone give me any tips on teaching a horse to lay down without having to dally a rope around the saddle horn from the foot? Please note, my horse is 16.1hh and well ground trained. I've never actually seen any techniques to do this without the use of a rope and a Western saddle.

Thank you...

Bobbie my name is Jim and I'm from Missouri I've seen alot of people lay their horses down but never without some sort of aid be it a rope around the saddle horn or just lifting a foot on one side or the other. There might be some trick books or articles out that might help you do it without touching your horse or using an aid but from what I've seen they need a little assistance when laying down.
